Turning the town square into an interactive playground.

The project

Enhancing the city’s livability through light & sound interactions with the various dedicated public spaces.

Background

The town hall square is situated in the new neighborhood “Egedal By” near the trainstation. Egedal municipality wish to create a light- and sound installation that encourages activity during the dark months of the year. The square is surrounded by the town hall, a retirement home and residential housing. School pupils, high school students and employees at the town hall are among the people who pass through the square on a daily basis.

What the project aims to solve

Nudging citizens to use their public spaces more through playful interactive installations.

Current status

After a procurement round with several artists and studios, a winning concept has been chosen – an interactive and colour changing circle of light, by the Swedish artist Milo Lavén.
